License
What is a license?
A license permits you to use software, content and services in accordance with certain terms and conditions set out in an End User License Agreement (EULA).
A EULA is a legally binding document. Without entering into a EULA, you would not be able to legally use the software, content or service.
When you purchase Adobe software you are buying the right, or getting a license, to use Adobe's software in accordance with Adobe's EULA.
The Adobe EULA explains exactly how you can use the software you purchase. It also identifies specific restrictions on your use of Macromedia software. If you break the terms of the Adobe EULA, you are breaking the law and are subject to enforcement action and penalties.
Once I've upgraded, can I use, sell or transfer the previous versions of the Adobe software?
Purchasing an upgrade to your product extends your existing license to cover the new version of the software; It does not provide you with two separate licenses (i.e. one to the old version and one to the new version). For example, if you upgrade from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver , you cannot sell Dreamweaver 8 to someone else.
Your upgrade has been sold to you at a discounted price, as compared to the purchase of a new license to a later version of the software.
What are the restrictions when using educational versions of Adobe software?
The educational versions of our software are specially priced for qualifying students and faculty. They are fully functional. However, they are restricted for educational and institutional use and distribution.
Only commercial licenses can be used to create products (CDs, Web sites, presentations, and other deliverable media) that will generate or solicit money. Educational versions are to be used exclusively for training and instructional purposes.
Any use of these products for commercial and/or financial gain would be a violation of the software license agreement.
What is product activation?
Product activation is an anonymous, secure and hassle-free one-time process that authenticates licensed users during the installation process.
The activation process verifies that the serial number is legitimate and has not been activated on more systems than allowed by the End User License Agreement (EULA). It does not affect the ability of licensed users to use their software as they always have.
